【English Version】

This bronze censer with twin lion-head handles is a representative form of the early Qing period, cast with thick bronze and shaped with smooth, rounded lines. The body follows a full, drum-shaped silhouette with a stable center of gravity.

Both sides are decorated with sculpted lion-head handles, a common and symbolic feature in Qing-dynasty censers. The lion heads are modeled with fullness and clarity—the facial features are three-dimensional, and the mane is rendered with natural, flowing texture. Each handle measures approximately 30 mm in width, well-proportioned and harmoniously integrated with the main body.

The bronze is fine and dense, with a naturally developed golden-brown patina that reflects long-term oxidation and a warm, aged sheen. The censer is overall well-preserved, and from form to proportion to visual presence, it embodies the early Qing aesthetic that favors steadiness, symmetry, and restrained elegance.
