Zhanbara gathers treasures and brings auspicious blessings

The image of the Yellow God of Wealth is usually golden in color, with a large belly and a small body. In his right hand, he holds a Mani pearl, while in his left hand, he holds a spitting treasure rat (which spits out precious treasures). His right foot steps on a conch shell, symbolizing his ability to receive wealth from all over the world, protect sentient beings with abundant food and clothing, and increase his blessings and wisdomevolve around him.

When Shakyamuni Buddha preached the Mahaparinirvana Sutra on Mount Lingjiu in the Magadha Kingdom of Central India in the past, various demon kings and gods became jealous and came to destroy the Dharma assembly. They used their magical powers to cause the Lingjiu Mountain to collapse and the ground to crack, with huge rocks rolling down, intending to harm the Buddha and the monks who heard the Dharma. At the critical moment when everyone was terrified, Huang Caishen (who was already on the bodhisattva throne at that time) bravely appeared and used his boundless power to protect the Dharma Society and the masses, blocking rocks and demons, allowing the Buddha’s teachings to be successfully completed. Afterwards, Shakyamuni Buddha praised the good deeds and power of the Yellow God of Wealth and personally instructed him: “In the future life, help all poor sentient beings, uphold the Dharma, and become the great protector of Buddhism.” The Yellow God of Wealth received the Buddha’s mandate and made a vow to help all sentient beings in poverty, thus officially becoming the most important wealth protector of Tantra.

During the Tang Dynasty, Songtsen Gampo decided to build the Jokhang Temple in Wotang Lake, Lhasa to enshrine Buddha statues. But this place was originally the residence of the Dragon God of the Bon religion, and the project encountered numerous obstacles from the beginning: craftsmen filled the soil day and night, while the lake water repeatedly overflowed, the foundation remained unstable, and construction was repeatedly interrupted. Songtsen Gampo was helpless and sought advice from a high monk of the Bon religion. The eminent monk instructed that only by devoutly reciting the Yellow God of Wealth Heart Mantra can we summon the power of the God of Wealth, quell the anger of the Dragon God, and solve the problem of foundation. So, Songtsen Gampo led his ministers and craftsmen to hold mantras and pray by the lake for seven days and seven nights. On the day of the completion of the ritual, the lake suddenly shone with golden light, and the Yellow God of Wealth personally descended. The treasure spitting mouse in his left hand kept spitting out countless treasures, and the treasures sank to the bottom of the lake, instantly filling the lake and revealing the solid foundation. The dragon god, who was originally causing trouble, was also impressed by the power of the Yellow God of Wealth and voluntarily became the guardian god of the Jokhang Temple. After the temple was built, the Yellow God of Wealth also transformed into a goat, helping to carry soil to fill the lake and repair the temple. To express gratitude for this kindness, there is still a statue of a divine sheep enshrined in the Jokhang Temple in Tibet, and the corners of the Huangcai Temple are often painted with goat patterns.
