Made of brass material, double-sided with enamel decoration, double-layer clamp structure, precise and durable.

Product Description

In the golden age of mechanical watches, Swiss watchmakers conquered the Eastern court with their exquisite skills. This all copper double opening enamel pocket watch is a witness to the fusion of Chinese and Western styles in that era.

Double sided elegance, both opening and closing create beautiful scenery
The Double Hunter structure gives it a unique sense of ceremony. Thumb lightly pushes the crown of the watch, and the front and rear covers open one after another – one side is the dazzling enamel of cloisonn é, and the other side is the precision of mechanical operation. On top of the hammered copper base, the red, green, and blue gemstone glazes outline a symmetrical peacock pattern, with rhinestones embellishing it, shining brightly even after a hundred years.

Eight Days of Persistence, Swiss Chip’s Persistence
The inscription “8 JOURS” on the inside of the watch cover declares its extraordinary endurance. The 17 diamond anchor escapement, double-layer clamp, and visible escapement window are all traditional Swiss watchmaking techniques. Roman numeral dial, small three needle layout, moon phases, and the flow of time in classical aesthetics.

Collection essentials
This type of pocket watch is mostly customized for export during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, and the value is determined by the integrity of the enamel and the quality of the movement. The key points for identification are hinge tightness, travel time accuracy, and clarity of inscriptions.
A pocket watch carries the ingenuity of the mechanical age and also represents a cultural dialogue that transcends mountains and seas.

Craftsmanship

The all copper case is double-sided cloisonn é enamel, with a hammer pattern background and a peacock open screen pattern. The red, green, and blue gemstone glazes are set with rhinestones, and the colors are timeless.

Condition Report

Case: The brass oxidizes naturally, the patina is uniform, there are no serious scratches, and the hinges open and close smoothly.
Enamel: The double-sided color is complete without obvious peeling, and the red, green, and blue glaze colors are well preserved.
Dial: The numbers are clear, the mirror shows signs of aging, and the hands are not corroded.
Bracelet: Original copper chain, complete chain links, consistent in color with the case, should be a contemporaneous accessory.
The storage status is good, and it is a collectible level pocket watch that can be used normally. It is recommended to regularly maintain the movement to avoid scratches on the enamel surface.

Provenance / Collection Note

This type of pocket watch was lost in large numbers during the wars of the Republic of China, and those with intact double-sided enamel and intact movements are now scarce. Existing physical objects are often found in overseas auction houses or old collections of domestic collectors, with uneven appearance – enamel peeling, movement rust, and loose hinges are common problems. This double-sided enamel has a full color and a complete case structure. It is speculated that it has been properly stored and passed down in an orderly manner.
